Barbados packing list for families

Barbados mixes calm Caribbean beaches with a dressier dinner scene and plenty of time on the water. Here is how our family packs for turtle swims, cave tours, and nice nights out.

Kristina's notes on Barbados

  1. The west coast is calm and glassy, while the east coast is wild and rough. Base yourselves on the west or south coast with little ones, and treat Bathsheba as a scenic drive, not a swim stop.
  2. Swimming with sea turtles is a highlight for kids here, and most catamaran trips include it. Pack a snorkel mask that actually fits each child, because borrowed adult masks leak and end the fun fast.
  3. Dinner is a little dressier than on many islands, especially along the west coast. I pack one nice outfit per person, with collared shirts for the boys and a sundress for the girls.
