Cappadocia packing list for families

Cappadocia is a high, dry plateau where sunrise balloon mornings start cold and afternoons can be hot. Here is how I pack for it with kids, from early pickups to dusty valley hikes.

Kristina's notes on Cappadocia

  1. Balloon flights depend on calm winds and are canceled often. Book your flight for your first morning so you have backup days if it is called off.
  2. Most balloon operators set a minimum age, often around 6, so check before you promise little ones a ride. Watching the launch from a terrace is magic too.
  3. Pickups are well before sunrise and it is cold up there, even in summer. Pack a warm layer and a hat for each kid, plus real shoes for the valley hikes.
