Dolomites packing list for families
Summer in the Dolomites means gondola rides, meadow hikes, and lunch at mountain huts. The weather changes fast up high, so packing the right layers is what keeps kids happy on the trail.

Kristina's notes on The Dolomites
- Most cable cars and mountain huts run from about mid-June to late September. Check opening dates before you book, because shoulder-season trips can find a lot closed.
- Afternoon thunderstorms are common in summer, so we hike early and plan to be at a hut for lunch. Pack rain jackets and a warm layer even on hot days.
- Kids love hut-to-hut walks with a lunch stop, and gondolas make big views easy for small legs. Bring a carrier for toddlers, since many trails are rocky.
