Jackson Hole and Yellowstone packing list for families

A summer trip to the Tetons and Yellowstone can start near freezing and end with a thunderstorm, all on the same day. Layers and a few wildlife essentials make it easy.

Kristina's notes on Jackson Hole & Yellowstone

  1. Summer mornings can start in the 40s even when afternoons are warm. Pack a fleece and a puffy for everyone.
  2. You can't fly with bear spray. Buy or rent it in Jackson, and leave it behind before your flight home.
  3. Yellowstone is huge, and the drives take longer than you think. I plan one region a day so kids aren't stuck in the car.
