Kraków and Warsaw packing list for families
Poland pairs a walkable medieval Kraków with a lively, modern Warsaw, plus underground salt chapels in between. Packing layers for cool mines and quick-changing weather keeps everyone happy.

Kristina's notes on Kraków & Warsaw
- The Wieliczka Salt Mine outside Kraków is a family favorite, but the tour starts with a long staircase down and stays cool year-round. I bring a light jacket for everyone and leave the stroller at the hotel.
- Auschwitz-Birkenau is a serious, emotional visit that the memorial does not recommend for children under 14. I plan it for parents and older teens, with younger kids spending that day with a sitter or guide in Kraków.
- The fast train between Kraków and Warsaw takes under three hours, which makes a two-city trip easy. Kraków's old town is compact and walkable, while Warsaw is bigger and better for museums like the Copernicus Science Centre.
