Rajasthan packing list for families

Rajasthan is a palace-and-fort trip with big temperature swings and a modest dress code, so packing takes a little more thought. Here is what I bring for families visiting Jaipur and Udaipur, and when to go.

Kristina's notes on India: Rajasthan

  1. Winter days in Jaipur and Udaipur are sunny and warm, but mornings and nights can be chilly. I pack a real warm layer for desert evenings and early starts.
  2. Forts mean ramps, stairs, and uneven stone. A carrier beats a stroller for little ones, and slip-on shoes help since you take them off at temples.
  3. Start early, rest midday, and go back out for golden hour. Kids handle the palaces much better in two short sessions than one long one.
